Oh my goodness we have been waiting a while to share this range with you. But it’s finally here and it’s GORGEOUS!
Dress-up Days is our first range from Riley Blake, featuring curly-haired little girls playing on their bicycles and splashing in puddles. We’re carrying it in both Grape (purple to you and me) and Blue, and there are 5 co-ordinating fabrics for each colourway. As soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to make a simple strip-quilt to show off how simply sweet it is, but then I couldn’t stop, so I made cushions as well, and best of all, since I just happen to know a young lady with the most beautiful brown curly hair…
This is my friend Lois. We showed her the fabric and she said at once, “That’s me!” so it seemed only fair she should have a little Dress-Up days dress. I don’t like to toot my own horn too much but apparently she hasn’t taken it off since. It’s the first dress I’d ever made so I’m rather proud she likes it so much.
You can find fat quarter bundles, a variety of cushions and even the quilt itself in our shop. Sadly the dress and its model are not for sale. 😉
Well, it’s been quiet around here lately, but we hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year!
At Material Goods we have great plans for 2013, but first of all, we’re hoping to put our efforts towards a new website and shop that will make it even easier for our customers to buy beautiful fabrics. (The bad news is that this may slightly delay the online availability of our new ranges, but be reassured that it will only be temporary). Speaking of which, eagle-eyed readers may wonder about the fabrics used in the letters above – they are ALL part of our wonderful new Spring ranges! Lots of fresh and vibrant greens, teals and mustards with plenty of pinks and purples in there too for those wanting a more retro twist, and all very exciting!
January can be a bit of a slump for all of us, so to ease your way back into the creative mood, we’ll be posting a very simple cushion tutorial next week, which you can make using any one of our lovely charm packs for the front, and a fat quarter for the back.
And finally, thank you so much to all our customers for your support in 2012. Onwards to 2013!
How fantastic are these? They’re the latest item to go into the Haberdashery section of our online shop, and I’m just so excited about them I wanted to share! Designed by children’s illustrator Jennie Maizels, they’re easily the nicest iron-on patches I’ve ever seen and I’m so glad we were able to stock them.
…did I mention our online shop is now live? It is! We aren’t quite in premises yet, and there are still a few things left to be added to the online shop – some gorgeous fat quarter bundles are next on the list – but all our current range of fabrics are available already, so why not go and have a look?
The stock has started arriving and we have been sorting and cutting like mad, but you have to have a little time for fun too you know…
“Madrona Road” from Michael Miller fabrics is a collection that stole our hearts as soon as we saw it. The range has some super picture prints and some lovely small prints that will work beautifully in a quilt.
There is one of the fabrics that stands out though, the print is so large and striking it called for something a little different, well and I *needed* a little something to wear to a very special party too…the fabric is called Charcoal Morning Glory and is very lovely
So here it is, a lovely top that was simple to make but lovely to wear…
Well, the first fabric order has arrived and after a stiff drink and a deep breath, we have begun chopping it up into the first few fat quarters.
Oh, it is lovely stuff. Even the patterns that don’t have sweet little donkeys on. Hee hee!
These photos are of the “warm” colourway. Are you getting excited yet? We are!!
